About the Seniors

Our History

West Croydon started with the Juniors in 1961 in the Woodville Juniors league. The colours were Navy Blue with a light Blue V and the home ground was at Croydon Park Primary School.

In 1973 we saw the introduction of senior football to the Norwood North League and a move to St Clair, Woodville as our home ground.

In 1974 the West Croydon Football Club entered the South Australian Amateur League from the Norwood-North Association.

In 1976 we changed home grounds to our present home at Fawk Reserve (to a little tin shed) and at the same time our colours to the brown and gold we know and love today. In 1978 we got a besser block building for the change rooms and extensions made in 1982 to form the club we have today.

Our SAAFL Premierships - 1977 D4, 1980 D2,1983 D7, 1996 A2R, 1997 D5R, 1998 D6 and 2005 D7

Our SAAFL Medallists - 1975 D5R - W Rattley, 1976 D5 - J Wilcox, 1985 U17 - M Karpenny, 1986 D1R - P Bourden, 1989 D2R - R Agius, 1992 D11 - N Gramatika, 1993 D4 - R Poole, 1999 D5 - J Soar, 2003 D7 - M Loffler and 2006 D6 - M Loffler

Our SAAFL State Players - 1985 M Krzeminski, 1985 and 1987 A Obst and 1981 D Worden.

For now this small glimpse of our clubs history showing a club which has withstood adversity and has had many great years. 2010 is proving to be one of those great years and I am and I know many more are proud to be part of it.
